We take this opportunity to reflect on what We learned from Sr. Angela’s life as an Assumption Sister of Eldoret.
Sr Angela passed from this life in Eldoret on March 1 2021, for many years she suffered from various health problems, despite this, she woke up every morning and continued the work of God. She did her best and kept things moving.
Sr. Angela joined the Assumption sisters in early 70’s . She was very instrumental in changing the face our congregation, she knew she was true steward and became one of the most visionary sisters, In her many efforts to sustain the congregation, she initiated several projects such as agriculture and education. Indeed, her goal has always been “To keep things growing and moving.”
As Sr. Angela would say, “As Jesus came to us through Mary, may we be like Mary as we share the Lord.” Her story teaches us that we belong to God and we share privilege of being companions of his Son. As an Assumption sister, she lived the charism and participated fully in the redeeming mission of Jesus Christ.
When contemplating a project, Sr. Angela would discern and pray, this made her have a deep thought before going ahead.
As a leader, she was described as strict, straight forward, firm and focused. She was fearless and had the congregation at heart. She was selected the Superior General (1988-1993), She was an intelligent, progressive thinking woman, who took many risks for greater good. She was immensely concerned with the plight of women and children and always sought ways of improving their well-being. Her passion and love for the poor was extraordinary, mobilizing resources for those who depended on her was like her fourth vow . She was the Director of Kwetu Home of Peace, and became the mother of many children who came under her care. She also founded the Nyaatha Foundation. Nyaatha means Mother of Mercy, which she demonstrated to countless people throughout her religious life
She is not finished yet! We are committed to continuing here on earth as she intercedes from eternity. May her soul, the soul of our Founder, our departed sisters and relatives rest in eternal peace. Amen
Sr. Angela “You fulfilled your mission on earth, may the Lord reward you in heaven”
